Many people assume that if they have a specific condition they will qualify as disabled. While that is true in some rare situations it is generally not the case. The disability evaluation process actually focuses more on the limitations an individual has related to their condition or the combination of their conditions. For example, I may get a call and the person will say “I have diabetes. Can I get disability?” Well, it depends as there are individuals with diabetes that run marathons while other diabetics may be bedridden. it is important to establish the limitations and restrictions an individual has related to their physical and/or mental conditions in order to be successful in establishing disability.
